How Much Does a Savannah Cat Cost?

August 26, 2026 · 7 min read

SBT Savannah kitten pricing example from LVHYBRIDS near Las Vegas, Nevada

The single biggest driver of Savannah cat price is generation — how many generations the cat is removed from the African serval. After that come pedigree quality, sex, coat, and whether the kitten is sold as a pet or with breeding rights.

Typical price by generation

  • F1 (about 50% serval): roughly $12,000–$25,000, and legal in far fewer places.
  • F2: roughly $6,000–$16,000.
  • F3: roughly $3,500–$8,000.
  • F4 SBT: commonly $3,000–$6,000 — ours start at $3,000.
  • F5 SBT: commonly $2,000–$4,500 — ours start at $2,000.

Why F4 and F5 SBT are the value sweet spot

F4 and F5 SBT Savannahs keep the long legs, bold spotting, and dog-like personality people want, while being legal in most states and priced for normal families. They also live comfortably with people who work regular jobs, which is not true of every early-generation cat.

What should be included in the price

  • TICA papers with a 2 year genetic health contract and 1 year of FIP coverage.
  • Vet check and a 30 day trial of free pet insurance.
  • First 2 sets of FVRCP vaccines and dewormed twice per TICA requirement.
  • Microchip.
  • Airline approved carrier, toys, and a blanket.
  • Raw food and supplements (local delivery only) with instructions.
  • Parents genetically tested for PRA and PK-def.
  • Lifetime advice and guidance from the breeder.

Deposits and payment

Most reputable breeders reserve kittens with a deposit. Ours is $1,000, non-refundable but transferable to a future litter, and the balance is due before pickup or delivery. Be cautious with anyone asking for full payment by gift card or crypto.

First-year costs to budget for

  • Spay or neuter if not already done: $150–$600.
  • Raw or premium diet: roughly $60–$150 per month.
  • Tall cat tree, harness, and enrichment toys: $200–$500 up front.
  • Routine vet care and vaccines: $200–$400.
  • Optional pet insurance: $25–$60 per month.
